Previously, Liebowitz was a professor at the Carey Business School of Johns Hopkins University, where he made integral contributions to developing the graduate certificate in competitive intelligence and served as the Capstone director for the MS-Information and Telecommunications Systems for Business Program.

He worked on over 30 capstone projects with various organizations across industry, government, and the non-profit sectors in this role.

Dr. Liebowitz has also been recognized as one of the world’s top 10 knowledge management researchers and practitioners.

He was ranked second worldwide in knowledge management strategy by the Journal of Knowledge Management in 2010.

This is further elaborated in his work as the first knowledge management officer at NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center, where he helped form the organization’s knowledge management effort.

Before coming to NASA, Dr. Liebowitz was the Robert W. Deutsch Distinguished Professor of Information Systems at the University of Maryland–Baltimore County and a full professor of management science at George Washington University.
