Do This. Directives to change your life Summary
1 min read ⌚
Derek Sivers turned his life lessons into directives for others. It may not be a book (yet), but they make for great nuggets so we decided to use them.
A professional musician and circus clown, Sivers started CD Baby in 1998. It was an online store for independent musicians to sell their music, and it became a huge hit, with over $100 million in sales. Sivers sold it in 2008 for $22 million and gave the money to charity.
He’s a popular TedTalker, writer, programmer, entrepreneur, and book publisher.
MOTIVATION / DO THIS. DIRECTIVES
“Say yes to everything. Meet everyone. Pursue every opportunity. Nothing is too small. Do it all.”
He originally posted the directives after popular demand following his turn on The Tim Ferriss Show. They’re little golden nuggets filled with advice on developing confidence, finding happiness, and saying no to money.
The directives are the result of years of reading hundreds of books. Sivers took meticulous notes as he read, and has now started turning those notes into quick, easy-to-follow, “do this” lists. Perfect if you want the best bits of a book without having to read the whole thing .
